Someone remind Sarah she has a blog...

Hi! Remember me? =)

I really haven't been cleaning my kitchen for the last 6 days. (The thought alone scares me!) Just one of those weeks where you seem to do a lot of work, with not much to show for it. Ever have one of those? I hate those.

Like yesterday, I decided to tear apart the closet in our dining room (yes, there is a closet in our dining room, more on that another time) and I spent hours in there, and got A LOT done. ...unless you weren't there to see it all, in that case it looks like I got NOTHING done. I promise you, I did! =)

I also managed to "fix" the camera (new batteries, huh...) but my lighting was gone, so pictures of projects will have to wait until tomorrow. (awwww...)

But, since I can't post without pictures, here's a few I found when I ..."fixed"... the camera.

(Excuse his mis-matched outfit, we're trying to make it through the summer on what he has left, and every once in a while, the orange shirt comes out.)

See those star shoes? Never has a boy LOVED a pair of shoes as much as he loves those shoes! I worry what will happen when he outgrows them...soon.

He was out the other night "playing golf". He would have stayed out all night swinging at that little white ball, and thought he was the greatest when he actually hit it. (which of course, he is)

I got to thinking, and realized he loves anything with a stick. Golf, drums, baseball, and well...sticks. If its an activity that involves swinging some sort of long stick, he's all over it!

He makes his daddy proud. ;)

Let's Make a Deal

I really WANT to post a few piddly projects I've managed to get done in the last week or so but:

1. My camera doesn't seem to want to turn on? This can't be good.

and

2. I NEED to get my house knocked into shape. You see, my dad and my step-mom are coming in 10 days. (I hate the term 'step-mom' - makes her sound abrasive, she's really not) :) And I started 'cleaning' in anticipation of their visit. Only....when I clean, I make a mess. It gets worse before it gets better. And the problem is, when we moved in (a year ago) we never REALLY organized things, so now I'm trying to organize, plus un-do a years worth of "just stick it there for now".

*sigh*

So...I'm MAKING myself tackle it one room at at time until its DONE. ...in theory before they get here :) hah!

So the deal is, today's the kitchen. Once its done, I get to come blog something interesting (because this post is THRILLING to read, I'm quite sure!) Ok, here goes!

Let's keep our fingers crossed I make it back today! =)

"We do not put yogurt in the toaster"

Not a rule I ever thought to cover, though...maybe I should have.

And now....off to pour a talllll glass of Pepsi.

Oh, did I mention we're in the market for a new toaster? And we've instilled a yougurt ban. ....and an unsupervised 2 1/2 year old ban. (silly mommy for thinking you could flip through a magazine on the couch for 3 minutes)

Spacing Issues

Blogger and I are going to throw down I swear.

I can't ever get the spacing between my paragraphs right, so forgive the random run-together-paragraphs, and the huge gaping holes between others.

I will figure it out, I promise :)

Killer Colds and Yard Sale Finds

So, our family spent the weekend with the worst cold to strike Illinois in DECADES. Well, that's how my husband acted anyway. :) Saturday nite niether of us really felt like cooking (or eating really) so I had a lightbulb moment and decided to make chicken & rice soup. 2 cans of chicken broth, 2 chicken breasts, brown rice, baby carrots, some salt & pepper and some sage. Voila! It was a pretty lame chicken & rice soup mind you, but I was pretty proud that it turned out at all! It doesn't look like much, but when you can't taste anything, it doesn't take much to impress! ;) It was pretty miserable being sick, in June (when the weather was GEORGOUS for Illinois in June.) but we're feeling much better, because of my soup I'm sure!

We did hit a yard sale in the hours before The Cold of '07. We saw a set of chairs that were fabulous, old and in need of some love, but so neat. But we had to pass because we're broke this week. ;) bummer. I did grab a couple cute finds that fit into my 'broke budget'...

Strawberry Shortcake Lunchbox -

which I'm hoping to find a place in our office/computer/scrap/craft/etc. room when its done....if its ever done.

and this pretty handstitched/crocheted table runner -

Which I'm thinking of making a pillow out of, but I'm still kind of scared to cut it. ;) So for now, its sitting on my desk and I'll just look at it. (and I don't know what happend to the second picture....it had edges I swear....weird.)

Well, now its Wednesday, and I have a TON of things to catch up on after losing the weekend. I should probably quit rambling on here and get back to...cleaning.

Ok, I'm going.

Here I go.

Off to clean.

I mean it.

*sigh* ok :)

Wanna See the Back of my Head?

Well here's your chance! You see, I'm not much of a picture person. I know, I know, I keep telling myself I NEED to get more pictures with me *IN* them instead of taking them. Its important, my son will want to look back years from now, yada yada yada. I get it...I hate them.

No really, I look at pictures of myself, cringe, and delete them before they ever see the end of the USB cable to upload them to the computer. I realize I'm *probably* being a little hard on myself, but I can't see a picture of myself without picking it apart 10,000 ways.

At any rate, here's the back of my head! That's me, gray tshirt, trying to hide from the camera. And see that sweater hanging on the back of my chair? I'LL NEVER GIVE IT UP! I love that thing, even though it has seen some MUCH better days. (and really, its just an acrylic sweater from kohls, so why I'm so attached I'll never know) But I'll wear it until it falls apart! Erhm...well, it is kind of falling apart...hmm...
Back on topic Sarah! The picture is from QC StitchnBitch last nite.
I finally got brave and went a few weeks ago. Well, not so much brave as "not absolutely terrified". Fine line. :) A very nice bunch of ladies. and coffee. and knitting. in once place.
Lovely :)
I finished my last dishcloth for a dishcloth swap I'm doing. Those will go out Monday, and I'm excited to see what will come back :) I'll try to post a picture of mine before they go. I'm actually happy with them, and even want some for myself, but I have to knit SOMETHING else first, because after doing 4 of the same pattern - I hate it at the moment. Oh I love it, but I hate it just a little after doing 4 in a row. ;)
Not much else to report, the boy has a wicked cold. And today was the most icky humid day, so he was nothing but a congested, runny nose mess. Even with the AC on, it didn't run enough to really kick out the humidity in the house. We've been waiting all day for some NASTY storms to come though tonite. Bad weather on its way, but at least it will cut through this soupy air and be cool enough to go outside tomorrow!
Off to work on some Etsy stuff! Have a great weekend!

Its Saturday and, the band is playin'...

...honey could you ask for more?

We're not terribly exciting people. We're just not. To demonstrate this fact, let me describe our Saturday night to you. I listen to
A Prarie Home Companion EVERY Saturday night. (oh heck, most Sunday's too...I know its just a repeat of the night before, but its THAT. GOOD.) Eddie...tolerates it. He's not a big fan, just doesn't get why I like (love) that show.

So the only thing that's different that any other Saturday nite is this:

Isn't it awesome? I'm not sure what its called, I'm sure it has a real name, but we call it "the big radio thing". We picked it up at the Salvation Army yesterday for $10. TEN. DOLLARS. I saw it last week (along with another they had) and wanted it badly, but it was $50. Not that I wouldn't have paid $50, I just didn't HAVE $50. ;) Dilema.

But for whatever reason, it was down to ten bucks when we went in, and it was ours.

The record player doesn't work, but I'm 99% sure we could fix it if we had any idea what we were doing. The radio DOES work and is just awesome! It actually sounds great. And I'll tell you, Garrison Keillor sounds especially nice.

And just because I took them:

So now, back to my description of our Saturday nights - Eddie's out trying to find a piece to hook up the dishwasher, and after that? COPS. - Yes. COPS. That's how exciting we are.

I might even throw in some knitting.

Have a good weekend!
